Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Emory

A Month-Long Celebration of Hispanic Culture and Heritage

Emory University is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long observance from September 15 to October 15 that recognizes the contributions and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States.

Throughout the month, Emory will host a variety of events and activities that celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage. These events will include lectures, performances, film screenings, and more.

The celebration will kick off with a keynote address by Dr. Jorge Ramos, a renowned journalist and author. Dr. Ramos will speak about the importance of Hispanic heritage and the challenges facing the Hispanic community today.

Events and Activities

In addition to the keynote address, Emory will host a variety of other events and activities throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. These events will include:

  • A performance by the Emory Mariachi Band
  • A screening of the film "Selena"
  • A lecture on the history of Hispanic immigration to the United States
  • A cooking demonstration of traditional Hispanic dishes
  • A dance performance by the Emory Latin Dance Club
